If you are a golfer Clare has much to offer. There are a number of excellent courses, the most famous being The Links Course at Lahinch, on which the South of Ireland Golf Championship is played annually in the Summer. There are two courses in Ennis, the old Ennis Golf Club and the newer Woodstock Golf and Country Club, both just about 10 mins. from the house. More courses for all ambitions are in Doonbeg, Dromoland, Gort, Spanish Point, Kilrush and Kilkee.
The beach at Lahinch is a 30 minutes drive from Ennis and offers safe swimming with a lifeguard on duty during the Summer months. Lahinch is also renowned for having ideal conditions for surfing. Surf lessons are available at the surf schools on the seafront. On the seafront at Lahinch is Lahinch Seaworld Pool & Aquarium.
The safe sheltered sandy beach of Kilkee is protected by Duggerna Reef, which is a natural wonder itself with some large and small rock pools full of marine life.
The strategic location of the marina in Kilrush makes it an ideal base from which to explore the splendid waters of the 100km long Shannon Estuary, with its many picturesque riverside towns and villages, and also gives access to the 200km long inland waterway system of the majestic river Shannon and its lakes and canals.
County Clare is famous for traditional Irish music and you can readily experience this great tradition in character-filled pubs throughout the county.
